Church issues-
"Am trying to find a church that suits my taste" said a fellow.
I asked, what taste are you reffering to here?
He exclaimed, ofcourse i dont want a church with a long boring
sermon, which doesnt address crucial issues.I asked him
further whats a long boring sermon? He said-Just some dry
bible study teaching some"spiri"(meaning spiritual) subjects.
He spoke of his taste for good music(he mentiioned classical
or rock specifically).
Very brief service, maybe an hour or less for the entire service.
I asked about serving in the church and he retorted..I really
am very busy!
I then asked him,Do u hold the bible as sacred? The basis for
our beliefs and Gods tool for our guidance and correction?
He hurriedly said..Of course!Then,i said,look for a Place
scripturally defined as CHURCH,Not by the signposts.
Furthermore,Church isnt based on what suits u rather its where
God changes u!
As touching the messages/sermons,its where Sermons are
REPEATED
2 Timothy 4:2-3 KJV
[2] Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. [3]
For the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to
themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 2:2 KJV
[2] And the things that thou hast heard of me among many
witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be
able to teach others also.
The same message of the Scriptures
John 5:39 KJV
[39] Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
Luke 24:25-27 KJV
[25] Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to
believe all that the prophets have spoken:
[26] Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to
enter into his glory?
[27] And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things
concerning himself.
.CHRIST&HIM CRUCIFIED is taught and researched by the
parishioners(1Cor2:2).
It means no pastor worth its salt will be looking for a message
for this morning! He shld be able to TEACH from ALL the
scriptures concerning Christ and His redemptive work for us!
I further said as touching music, whether classical or oriental,
the Key issue is d Worship of God thru Christ Jesus and
Reverence plays a part in this.
Ephesians 5:18-19 KJV
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be
filled with the Spirit;
[19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Hebrews 13:15 KJV
[15] By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God
continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his
name.
The length of the service?
Check out Jesus's meetings and the Apostles as well, and u
will find out dat may not suit u also.
Finally,i told him, church is also a place where Gods power is in
demonstration and in display regularly as well
1Corinthians 14:24-26 KJV
[24] But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth
not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of
all:
[25] And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and
so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report
that God is in you of a truth.
[26] How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every
one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath
a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto
edifying.
The issue here is simple,in ur choice of church(es),let the
scriptures be the basis for ur choosing a place to stay and
fellowship not subject to ur whims.
Finally,i told the man,if your church isn't training u for
ministry,then u are a member of a social club as a primary
duty of the Pastor is to TRAIN U FOR MINISTRY WORK
Ephesians 4:12 KJV
[12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
He walked away thinking,my ideas are old fashioned and i
agreed with him becos the Bible is about 4000 years old and
its STILL THE ONLY material that speaks for God!
Hope this helps in ur choosing a church to STAY and be
COMMITTED?
