To receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour is to receive the Gift of
Righteousness.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by
one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and
of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus
Christ.).
Everyone who has believed the Gospel has been made
righteous in God’s sight.
Romans 10:9 [That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.]
10 [For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.]
Righteousness doesn't happen after we receive salvation,
rather it is what we become at salvation.
Romans 8:31-34 (KJV)
31 [What shall we then say to these things? If God] be[ for us,
who ] can be [ against us?]
32 [He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for
us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?]
33 [Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? ] It is
[God that justifieth.]
34 [Who ] is [he that condemneth?] It is [Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also maketh intercession for us.]
Glory.
Everything that comes in salvation is free.
It means no conditions are attached.
Nothing to achieve or aim for or at.
Just to receive.
This at times makes us uncomfortable, living in a reward
system where everything is earned or gained.
We kind of imagine how incredible the above verses must be.
We are not just pardoned and let go to "sin no more".
We not just told "okay I forgive you but ensure this doesn't
happen anymore"
We are (were) declared not guilty.
Nothing can be brought against us successfully.
In the Father’s sight we are without blame or guilt.
We are Righteous.
2 Corinthians 5:17 [Therefore if any man ] be[ in Christ, ] he is
[ a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things
are become new.]
18 [And all things ] are[ of God, who hath reconciled us to
himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation;]
19 [To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto
himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath
committed unto us the word of reconciliation.]
We are new creatures. In Him.
God doesn't impute (count sins) because of the punishment
meted out to (on) His Son, Jesus.
This is the charter of the Gospel. It is why the message of
salvation is properly so called, The Good news.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God
in him.
Great news.
If we believe He (Jesus) took our place, then we MUST accept
that it is so that we have His.
We are now conditionally and positionally without guilt.
We are God’s righteousness in Christ.
It's not attained, it’s not achieved.
We are (were) made so. It is not our doing or making.
It's attributed to Him. Alone.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV)
8 [For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: ] it is[ the gift of God:]
9 [Not of works, lest any man should boast.]
10 [For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto
good works, which God hath before ordained that we should
walk in them.]
We have become His masterpiece. His handiwork.
Attributed to Him alone. We shouldn't try and take the glory.
Only He could have done this.
Declare sinners not guilty. Make them free from guilt.
That's His work.
1 Corinthians 1:29 [That no flesh should glory in his presence.]
30 [But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto
us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption:]
31 [That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him
glory in the Lord.]
No boastings. No "Mr me or I". It’s all in Him and by Him and
through Him.
At times we want to take His glory. We count it impossible for
God to give all the glory to His Son Jesus.
We want some glory space.
Our tears, repentance, works, deeds, actions, faithfulness,
honesty.
These could never have mattered to Him.
We are and will remain righteous because of all that Jesus did.
Hebrews 10:10 [By the which will we are sanctified through the
offering of the body of Jesus Christ once ] for all[.]
11 [And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering
oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away
sins:]
12 [But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for
ever, sat down on the right hand of God;]
13 [From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his
footstool.]
14 [For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that
are sanctified.]
He perfected us forever.
Many dread the word eternal.
Forever .
Get used to it!
Hebrews 9:12 [Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but
by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption] for us.
Our redemption is forever.
Hebrews 9:15 [And for this cause he is the mediator of the
new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of
the transgressions] that were[ under the first testament, they
which are called might receive the promise of eternal
inheritance.]
Our inheritance is forever.
Hebrews 5:9[And being made perfect, he became the author
of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;]
Salvation in Christ is eternal. Eternal means forever.
Hebrews 7:25 [Wherefore he is able also to save them to the
uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to
make intercession for them.]
Uttermost means forever and completely.
This is so because He (Jesus) is the surety and advocate
whose work is eternal.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall
never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no
man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
The life received at salvation is eternal,
We shall Never perish. Nothing can snatch us away.
All that Jesus has done for us are Eternal in classification.
Same with Righteousness.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my
word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from
death unto life.
God and His Word are one.
We can count on His word rather than our experiences or
feelings or some non-Christ-centred teachings.
By faith alone. In Christ Alone. By Grace alone, giving glory to
Him alone .
Blessed?
I am God’s righteousness in Christ Jesus. I have a blameless
status and state in Him before the Father. His righteousness is
mine.
