    What is sound doctrine???? (2+1)

    What is NOT sound doctrine?
    Haven laid the foundation of what sound doctrine is ..
    1 Timothy 1:11-12 KJV
    [11] According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
    [12] And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
    it is the gospel, what God did in Christ.
    Paul had earlier reiterated this in Corinth
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV
    [1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    Not just the message for salvation but that's where we stand and grow .
    Faith in Christ alone and only
    So what's not sound..
    Any teaching that's not built on this singular fact
    1 Timothy 1:4 KJV
    [4] Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do .
    Fables
    1 Timothy 1:7 KJV
    [7] Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
    Teachers of the law, those who affirm the law of Moses!
    1 Timothy 1:19 KJV
    [19] Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
    They make a shipwreck of the faith (knowledge) of believers
    Law teachers
    1 Timothy 1:20 KJV
    [20] Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
    They had names
    1 Timothy 4:1 KJV
    [1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
    Seducing spirits mean " lying spirits which take away from the truth "
    Now pay attention
    He calls them doctrines (plural) with several emphases, here and there .
    Not a single focus on Christ
    They are believers so Christ is one of their several focuses, hence the deceit there.
    Doctrines of Devils
    Depart from faith in Christ alone
    1 Timothy 4:3 KJV
    [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
    Focus is on things and men - Don't touch, don't do!
    Just as he earlier warned Colosse;
    Colossians 2:21-22 KJV
    [21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not; [22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
    This is from the law too
    1 Timothy 4:4 KJV
    [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
    Amen
    1 Timothy 4:5 KJV
    [5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
    Jesus did this, prayer is asking .
    1 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
    [7] But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. [8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
    Bodily exercise is such things, it profits little
    Taste not,touch not
    Colossians 2:23 KJV
    [23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
    For the body, not honoring Christ, focus is works, not faith in Christ
    1 Timothy 6:5,9-10 KJV
    [5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. [9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
    Material things is the focus of such doctrine.
    Paul says withdraw!
    1 Timothy 6:17-18 KJV
    [17] Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; [18] That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
    It focuses on acquiring things, using Christ as means to, Christ is not the end
    Whilst sound doctrine, faith in Christ is all, this has it as a means to an end
    2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
    [7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: [8] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
    Love his appearing not a means for things. It is to him and for him .
    2 Timothy 1:8-9 KJV
    [8] Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; [9] Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
    This is the SINGULAR test for sound doctrine
    Titus 1:14 KJV
    [14] Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
    Otherwise, you have these .Don't do this and this .
    Which look pure but aren't
    Titus 1:15-16 KJV
    [15] Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. [16] They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him , being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
    Notice the pure is purified by believing not commandments
    Titus 2:14 KJV
    [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
    Titus 3:5 KJV
    [5] Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    Any other teaching is not sound
    Sound doctrine has good works birthed in the man who has believed
    Titus 2:12 KJV
    [12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    It says ,we exist in good works in Christ .We are purified with these already
    Just like Paul had earlier taught same church
    Ephesians 2:10 KJV
    [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    Sound doctrine says YOU ARE before Doing!!!!!!!
    The moment it changes it is no longer sound
    It must be ALL about Him and What He did TO us and IN us .
    It never seeks to be qualified ,it shows pre-qualification in Christ only
    Paul's warning in Galatia is instructive
    Galatians 1:4 KJV
    [4] Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
    Take note of the tenses
    Past!
    Galatians 1:6 KJV
    [6] I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
    His work alone ,however another gospel adds to it
    Galatians 1:7 KJV
    [7] Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
    It troubles you, the Greek means to "unsettle you "
    You lose your assurance!
    Hence the Pauline vow and decree
    Galatians 1:8-9 KJV
    [8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
    It MUST RETAIN ITS TENSES.
    What you have not received!!!!!!!!
    Galatians 3:1-3 KJV
    [1] O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? [2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? [3] Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
    Focus on Christ not self, otherwise is bewitching .
    Notice the tense
    RECEIVED.
    Paul wrote this letter so they won't get troubled, disturbed .
    Galatians 5:1 KJV
    [1] Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
    STAND.
    That's what to do, not become!
    We are!!!!
    Don't desire bondage
    Galatians 4:9 KJV
    [9] But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
    Galatians 4:21 KJV
    [21] Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
    As those who preach otherwise use the scriptures (Old Testament )but not in a sound way
    The only Legitimate use of the Old Testament is faith in Christ
    Luke 24:25-27 KJV
    [25] Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
    [26] Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
    27] And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
    Himself
    2 Timothy 3:15 KJV
    [15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
    Notice both Jesus and Paul calls anyone not focusing on faith in Christ alone as foolish.
    Not insulting.
    Sound doctrine isn't balancing faith in Christ alone
    That's false doctrine or doctrine of men or Devils
    Galatians 5:18 KJV
    [18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
    A believer is not under the law, the term “led” here being taking from
    This is the new birth .
    In closing, faith in Christ and then having add ons like:
    Giving ,baptism ,tongues ,prosperity ,dressing ,church attendance ,good conduct ,for God to act well towards you and accept you isn't sound doctrine
    This was vigorously rejected then
    Galatians 2:5 KJV
    [5] To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
    And should be today
    Let's fight the good fight of faith, keep it and contend for it.
    Grace of Our lord is with your spirit
    Amen
    Concluded
